Keeping Pace With ABS's Evolving Digital Needs
"Having worked with 101 for a number of years it was great to be able to further develop our website with them. Having a responsive site was an important priority and the redesign has made our web presence more modern."
Lucy Davies, The Association of Breast Surgery
Background
The Association of Breast Surgery (ABS) is a body of surgeons, nurse specialists and other members of the wider breast care team who together aim to promote the highest standards of breast care through research, training, education, guidelines and audit. To do this effectively, ABS needed a website that could communicate this work to the membership in a fast and user-friendly way.
The Brief
The Association was formed in 2010 and needed help from 101 to develop their initial web presence. Over the next few years, we built a members’ area for the site and gave it a facelift - a low-cost solution that helped ABS make the most of their budget. However, in 2016, ABS wanted to modernise the site to be responsive across all devices and with added functionality.
They also commissioned 101 to create an app for delegates to use at their conference to access easily the information they required to make the most of the event.
Our Solutions
We were mindful that ABS needed a website that could accommodate piecemeal growth. Our solution had to be forward-focused and have the long-term goals of the Association in mind as we built it. This site gives ABS the flexibility to add services or functionality one stage at a time, when they know what they need and when their budget allows.
The app allows delegates to access information about the ABS Conference on their phones. It includes a scheduling function which allows delegates to browse the sessions and speakers and highlight their preferences, thus building up a personalised schedule for what they want to attend. It also allows delegates to access abstracts and posters online, as well as give their feedback at the end of the event.
"The Conference App was a great success, with delegates finding it easy to use and beneficial. Both the website and the app are important for the Association to deliver an improved service to our members and conference delegates. We look forward to continuing our work with the 101 team."
