Background

The Norfolk Safeguarding Children Partnership (NSCP) is a partnership of three statutory partners in Norfolk, namely Norfolk County Council, Police, and Health. The partnership is responsible for safeguarding children and young people in the region and providing safeguarding training to professionals working with children and families as well as local organisations and charities.

A link to the NSCP website is one of the first results to appear when someone Googles 'safeguarding in Norfolk’, so it is essential that their site delivers what people need, particularly considering the vulnerable nature of the people it is safeguarding.

Challenge

The NSCP’s previous website had become increasingly outdated, with content difficult to find and complicated to keep updated. Accessibility was also a significant issue.

The website needed to be user-friendly and accessible to different audiences, including professionals, parents, and children. In addition, the tone had to strike a balance between being approachable and not too corporate.

Another challenge was the ability to provide a logical and easy-to-navigate format for presenting the huge amount of information available on the website and a simple means of keeping the content updated.

The NSCP needed to find a reliable web agency that could redesign its website to meet its evolved needs.

Solution

The NSCP's Helen Stubbs, the Safer Programme Business Support Executive Lead, approached several web agencies for help before selecting 101 Websites, Apps & Email Marketing.

“We chose 101 based on their helpfulness and professionalism in responding to the brief, as well as their reasonably priced quote, and the general positive 'vibe' of the business,” commented Helen.

101's Managing Director, Holly Stibbon, quickly understood the NSCP's requirements based on initial conversations with Helen and advised on what was needed to meet the NSCP's objectives for the website.

101 has created a website structure that is well laid out and easy to navigate, addressing the challenges of the previous site. They designed the website to reflect the NSCP’s corporate style, bringing consistency to all parts of the site. The preset styling and branding make it easy for the NSCP team to add content with a uniform look and feel.

Accessibility was a big issue with the previous site, and 101 has ensured that the new site is accessible, as required by the NSCP.

The NSCP’s website has to house a huge amount of information, and 101’s new design organises this in a more logical and accessible manner, supported by the easy-to-use Umbraco Content Management System (CMS) to keep it updated. The CMS of the old site had not been able to keep pace with the evolving content, and the new CMS is more straightforward to use, making it easier to find and organise things.

Helen is very pleased with the support she has received from 101. Whenever she had a query or concern during the development process, 101’s team were highly responsive.

“With 101’s support, I felt that nothing was unachievable and I really appreciated the team's expertise,” explained Helen.
