"Thanks to 101, we now have a professional website that serves as a focal point for our mission."

Background
Climate Change Gardening is a charitable organisation based in East Anglia, formed by gardeners concerned about climate change. Private gardens are the third largest land use sector in England, with over 20 million people identifying as gardeners, representing a significant opportunity to influence environmental practices and contribute to climate change mitigation. The group aims to raise awareness of climate change’s impact on gardens and empower gardeners to adopt sustainable practices.
The Brief
Climate Change Gardening, approached 101 for help in developing a professional, easy-to-manage website that would serve as the central hub for their initiative. As a new charity organisation with limited resources, they needed a cost-effective solution that could grow with them while allowing them to reach a wide audience of gardeners concerned about the impact of climate change.
The website needed to communicate their mission clearly and inspire gardeners to take action, both by adapting their own gardening practices and contributing to the wider effort of mitigating climate change.
Given the evolving nature of the charity’s work, the website had to be flexible, with the ability to grow alongside their activities. It also needed to be easy to update with new information on events, resources and tips, ensuring they could keep their audience engaged and informed.
Raising awareness of the effects of climate change on gardens and wildlife was key. The website needed to provide clear, engaging educational content to help gardeners understand the issues and equip them with practical steps they could take to make a difference.
Our Solutions
To meet Climate Change Gardening's needs, 101 designed and built an engaging, well-organised website that allows for easy updates to support the charity's mission.
101 created a professional website that is easy to navigate, allowing users to quickly access the information they require. The design reflects the charity's values and encourages visitors to engage with the content, whether they are seasoned gardeners or newcomers. The team ensured that all features, from the event calendar to resource links, are easily accessible, making it simple for users to find what they need.
The website features a flexible content management system that enables Climate Change Gardening to update content quickly and efficiently, including details about events such as exhibitions they are attending or talks they are presenting. This ensures that visitors always have access to the latest information, helping to keep their community of gardeners engaged and informed.
The website was built using Umbraco, a reliable platform that can easily evolve with the charity's needs. It is mobile-responsive, ensuring that users can access the site comfortably from any device. This choice allows for scalability, meaning that as Climate Change Gardening grows, the website can adapt without needing a complete redesign. 101 remains on hand to assist with any updates or changes if needed.
The site incorporates Google Analytics, providing valuable insights for Climate Change Gardening into user behaviour and engagement. This data helps the charity understand which content resonates most with their audience, allowing them to refine their messaging and approach accordingly.
101 continues to offer ongoing support to Climate Change Gardening, providing assistance or guidance whenever needed. Whether it's helping with updates, answering questions or offering advice, 101 is always available to ensure the website remains an effective tool for their charity.
"101 has put Climate Change Gardening on the digital map! Thanks to 101, we now have a professional website that serves as a focal point for our mission, allowing us to share information about events and resources aimed at addressing climate change. Despite our limited resources as a new charity, 101 was very happy to help and we're grateful for their fantastic support."
